Fogarty Social Media Advocacy Toolkit

June 14, 2017 This week on June 15, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tom Price will sit before the Senate Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies (LHHS) to defend the President’s fiscal year 2018 (FY18) budget proposal.

FY18 funding proposal still includes the complete elimination of the Fogarty International Center, among many destructive cuts to the budget of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Join American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA), Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and Treatment Action Group (TAG) in an effort to #SaveFogarty through a social media toolkit to build community support for the Fogarty International Center during the LHHS appropriations subcommittee hearing, highlight how cuts to Fogarty hurt research conducted by state institutions and urge Congress to save it from elimination. Your Senators need to hear from you!

To take action on Thursday, June 15 and show your support for Fogarty:

  1. Share and posting the messages in the toolkit over Twitter and Facebook.
  2. Tag members of the subcommittee in your tweets and posts.
  3. Use, share, adapt and make your own messaging!
