JOB OPPORTUNITY: Finance Manager

February 2018 — TAG is seeking to hire a Finance Manager who will report to the Deputy Executive Director – Development and Operations (DED-DO). The Finance Manager will ensure timely and accurate development, management, and reporting of TAG's financials. They will work closely with the DED-DO, Executive Director (ED), Administrator, and Program Directors, and attend Board Finance Committee meetings on a monthly basis or as requested.

The Finance Manager's role requires tact, diplomacy, and interaction with staff and the Board. Strong communications skills, written and verbal, are a must.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years’ experience in financial management, budgeting, and analysis in a nonprofit setting;
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills including financial reporting and analysis, monthly variance analyses to budget, and other relevant measurement tools;
  • Experience developing organizational, programmatic, and project budgets;
  • Expertise in fund accounting and working with multiple restricted and unrestricted grants (including proposal budgeting and financial reporting);
  • Ability to identify factors that account for variances and put financial performance in context;
  • Ability to communicate financial issues to, and receive input from, a wide variety of stakeholders;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, prioritization, and follow up skills;
  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel; Proficient with QuickBooks Pro, nonprofit edition;
  • Experience with expense reporting software such as Certify a plus;
  • Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities:

  • Directed by the DED-DO, oversee development of the annual budget, mid-year course correction, monthly financials, and other financial reports by program/organization.
  • In collaboration with TAG's administrator and other staff, produce the organization's internal monthly and year-end financials. 
  • Assist program and development staff in preparing budget proposals for grant and sponsored projects, and work with them to review, track, and report on spending of grant funds awarded to ensure that it is conducted in accordance with grant terms and conditions. 
  • Working with TAG’s administrator, manage banking and expense-reimbursement protocols and assist with other finance-related vendors and consultants.
  • Collaborate with TAG's independent accounting firm to produce fiscal year-end audited financials, and as otherwise needed.
  • Monitor spending and meet as needed with DED-DO and program directors to ensure that all key staff have up-to-date working knowledge of their programmatic and general operational financials, highlight potential risks and opportunities, and help staff to ensure timely expenditure of time-limited grants and projects.
  • Help ensure internal controls are established and followed; continually evaluate established policies and procedures and make recommendations for updates and improvements as necessary.
  • Support ad hoc financial analyses as requested by DED-DO, ED, Board Treasurer, or Finance Committee.

Compensation:
The salary range is $60,000-70,000 per year. TAG offers a generous benefits package including generous paid time off.
