logo: sentinel project on pediatric drug resistant tuberculosisThese are exciting times for children and adolescents impacted by TB, and there are multiple opportunities to offer them shorter, safer, more effective regimens for all forms of TB infection and disease.  The Sentinel Project on Pediatric Drug Resistant TB enthusiastically endorses the “1/4/6×24” campaign and makes the following pledges to support access to innovation for children and adolescents:

  • Technical assistance and support will be given to any provider or program on how to transition to the one-month and three-month regimens for treatment of TB infection;
  • Advocacy to obtain dosing information on rifapentine for TB prevention in younger children and the development of an appropriate pediatric formulation for use in preventive therapy regimens;
  • Technical assistance and support will be given to any provider or program how to transition to the four-month regimen for non-severe, drug-susceptible TB;
  • Technical assistance and support will be given to any provider or program on how to transition to the rifapentine-containing four-month regimen for older children and adolescents with drug-susceptible TB;
  • Advocacy to obtain dosing information on rifapentine for treatment of drug-susceptible TB in younger children and the development of an appropriate pediatric formulation;
  • Technical assistance and support will be given to any provider or program on how to transition to all-oral shorter regimens for the treatment of drug-resistant TB;
  • Advocacy to obtain safety and dosing information on pretomanid in children and adolescents and the development of an appropriate pediatric formulation;
  • Technical assistance and support to any provider or program to develop a series of best practices to support the rollout of the shorter, safer, and more effective regimens that are part of the “1/4/6×24” campaign.
