TAGLine 2025: A Year of Action — Defending Science, Protecting Communities documents a year of intensified advocacy as Treatment Action Group confronted unprecedented attacks on public health, scientific integrity, and the communities most impacted by HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis C (HCV). Amid sweeping cuts to U.S. and global health programs, the dismantling of research infrastructure, and rising political hostility toward evidence-based care, TAG mobilized to defend lifesaving science and demand accountability from policymakers.
Throughout 2025, TAG led and supported actions opposing the defunding of NIH, CDC, USAID, and PEPFAR; rejected transphobia and science denialism; and stood in solidarity with researchers, advocates, and affected communities in the United States and globally. This publication highlights TAG’s rapid-response statements, policy briefs, coalition actions, pipeline reports, and public demonstrations that together formed a sustained resistance to policies threatening progress against HIV, TB, and HCV.
More than a retrospective, TAGLine 2025: A Year of Action is a record of collective resilience and a call to action. It reflects TAG’s commitment to ensuring that science serves the public good, that marginalized communities are protected, and that hard-won gains in prevention, treatment, and cure research are not reversed. As the fight continues, this publication captures where TAG stood in 2025—and why continued vigilance, advocacy, and solidarity remain essential.
