Earlier this week, Representative Haley Stevens of Michigan introduced articles of impeachment against Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., citing his abuse of authority, attacks on vaccines, and cancellation of billions of dollars in lifesaving biomedical research. The effort, championed by the grassroots group Stand Up for Science, is gaining momentum as additional members of Congress, including Rep. Eric Swalwell, sign on as co-sponsors.

TAG has repeatedly warned that RFK Jr.’s tenure at HHS is a direct threat to public health, scientific integrity, and communities affected by HIV, TB, HCV, COVID-19, and other conditions. His actions have included rolling back vaccine recommendations, cutting or freezing research grants, and sidelining career scientists in favor of ideology, all of which undermine decades of progress in prevention, treatment, and cure research.

We welcome this new phase of accountability and stand with partners like Stand Up for Science, academic leaders, and affected communities who are demanding that Congress act. While the current House majority makes impeachment unlikely to advance, these efforts are an important tool to expose the damage RFK Jr. is doing to public health and to build pressure for restoring evidence-based leadership at HHS.
