Acclaimed Actress, Singer, Author, and HIV/AIDS Advocate to be Recognized for Her Lifelong Commitment to Public Health and Social Justice

New York, NY, June 17, 2025 – Treatment Action Group (TAG) is proud to announce that Gloria Reuben — award-winning actress, singer, author, and longtime HIV/AIDS advocate — will be honored at the 2025 Research in Action Awards (RIAA) for her unwavering dedication to public health, activism, and the arts.
TAG’s Research in Action Awards, taking place on October 20, 2025, at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York City, honors visionary leaders and activists driving change in HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis C (HCV) advocacy. Gloria’s decades-long commitment to raising awareness, advancing research, and fighting for health equity make her an extraordinary honoree for this year’s event.
“Gloria’s impact reaches far beyond the screen,” said Mark Harrington, TAG Executive Director. “Her work as an advocate has helped shape conversations about HIV/AIDS, health equity, and the power of storytelling. From ER to her activism, she has used her voice to challenge stigma, increase awareness, and fight for those impacted by the epidemic. We are proud to honor her at this year’s Research in Action Awards.”
For years, Gloria has been a champion in the fight against HIV/AIDS, using her platform to amplify voices, advocate for funding, and push for medical advancements. Her groundbreaking portrayal of Jeanie Boulet on ER — one of the first Black female characters openly living with HIV on prime time television — played a pivotal role in shaping public perceptions of the epidemic. Beyond television and film, Gloria has lent her support to global HIV/AIDS organizations, ensuring continued progress in treatment, prevention, and policy change.
Adding to the excitement of this year’s event, Gloria shares a close connection with TAG’s 2025 Research in Action Awards Event Chairs, Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon. Their shared commitment to philanthropy, advocacy, and the arts brings a uniquely personal element to this celebration, making this an evening not to be missed.
“It is an incredible honor to receive this recognition from TAG, an organization whose mission aligns so deeply with the advocacy work I have carried forward for decades,” said Gloria Reuben. “The fight against HIV/AIDS is far from over, and I am proud to stand alongside TAG in pushing research, policy, and education forward.”
With Gloria’s recognition, TAG anticipates an unforgettable evening celebrating bold changemakers, amplifying public health advocacy, and fueling progress toward ending HIV, TB, and HCV.
