Red image that in white reads: Research in Action Awards, November 16, 2021, with TAG in white in a black circle

Treatment Action Group’s (TAG’s) annual Research in Action Awards honor activists, scientists, philanthropists, and creative artists who’ve made extraordinary contributions in the fight against HIV, tuberculosis, and hepatitis C.

On November 16, we honored CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH; Ivy Kwan Arce, activist, mother, and artist living with HIV; and Erica Lessem, MPH, former TAG Deputy Executive Director. Sur moderated a a fascinating panel discussion on Art and Activism, with participants Nancy Brooks Brody, this year’s RIAA artist; Joy Episalla, TAG board member and 2015 RIAA artist, and Jesse Pratt Lopez.

Our virtual event was once again hosted by veteran journalist and activist, Ann Northrop, and Kia LaBeija, artist, activist, and former mother of the House of LaBeija gave an amazing performance. Finally, a shout out to our hard-working event chair, the incomparable Bob Bronzo.
