Dear TAG supporters,
I’m pleased to share Treatment Action Group’s 2025 Annual Report with you. As you read it, I hope you’ll come away with a deeper understanding of what TAG does and why our work matters now more than ever.
For 35 years, TAG has occupied a unique place in global infectious disease research and public health. We don’t provide direct medical care, and we aren’t a traditional research institution. Instead, we work where science, public policy, and affected communities meet to make sure scientific discoveries become real improvements in people’s lives. We push for better research, scrutinize the science as it develops, defend public investment in research, and work to ensure that new treatments, prevention tools, vaccines, and cures reach everyone who needs them.
That work took on new urgency in 2025.
As political attacks targeted biomedical research, public health agencies, and global health programs, TAG became a trusted source of scientific analysis and a leading voice defending evidence-based public health. We analyzed proposed policy changes, challenged funding cuts, responded quickly to attacks on research institutions, and helped researchers, journalists, policymakers, and community leaders understand what was at stake.
At the same time, we published our signature Pipeline Reports, which track the latest developments in HIV, tuberculosis, and hepatitis C research and are relied upon by scientists, clinicians, and activists around the world. We hosted webinars to help communities understand rapidly changing policies, organized public demonstrations, participated in congressional briefings and scientific meetings, and brought thousands of people together through our annual Pride Health Fair.
The pages that follow offer just a glimpse of this work. This report is not simply a record of what TAG accomplished in 2025. It tells the story of how science moves from the laboratory into policy, practice, and people’s lives. Scientific discoveries do not change the world simply because they are published. They change the world when research is funded, governments act on the evidence, health systems deliver new tools, and communities help shape the decisions that affect their lives. That is where TAG has focused its work for decades, and it is where we will continue to focus in the years ahead, fighting to move forward in the face of ongoing political attacks on research and programs that save lives.
None of this happens without people like you.
Your support allows TAG to remain independent, science driven, and community centered. Every gift helps us respond quickly to new challenges, defend scientific research, produce trusted analyses, and work with partners around the world to ensure that scientific progress leads to better health for everyone.
Thank you for believing in this work and for standing with TAG. I hope this report gives you a clearer picture of what your generosity accomplishes and inspires you to continue investing in a future where science, justice, and public health move forward together.

With gratitude,

Mark Harrington
Executive Director
