About Ki
Ki Smith is a native New Yorker and the owner/founder of Ki Smith Gallery. He began working in art galleries at the age of 16 after dropping out of school. At 21, he co-founded Apostrophe NYC, which gained recognition for its innovative pop-up exhibitions at venues such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, MoMA PS1, and NYC Subway stations.
Smith founded Ki Smith Gallery in 2018 in Harlem. Since then, Ki Smith Gallery has expanded to inhabit a 2 floor storefront in the Lower East Side that includes multiple exhibition rooms as well as an intimate performance space.
The program not only gives voice to contemporary arts but also has collaborated with the Andy Warhol Museum, Mass MoCHA, Blondie, DEVO and numerous charitable organizations. Ki Smith is passionate about shepherding the value of art and creating enduring relationships with artists and appreciators of culture. He currently sits on the board of Washington Square Park Arts and the Kuwayama Naito Foundation, and is developing a TV show with MGM.
