HIV research is at risk, and the people who depend on it can’t afford delay. HIV activists across the country are urging supporters
to contact their two Senators and House Representative today and demand that the Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) release the overdue NIH Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) that will fuel HIV research for the next decade.

Over the past few months, the HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Networks (CTNs) and the Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR) have dealt with repeated, unjust delays in receiving grant renewal notices.

Without these NOFOs, researchers can’t submit proposals, and NIH can’t continue to support HIV research and clinical trials.

Urge Congress to demand release of overdue NIH HIV research funding notices

Reduced or lost funding would:

  • Harm people who are participating in drug trials, who would be removed from studies before they are completed
  • Dismantle research infrastructure that has produced lifesaving innovations
  • Waste billions in taxpayer dollars invested in this research
  • Interrupt years of science that has driven breakthroughs beyond HIV, including in cancer and COVID-19

We standby our partners and strongly encourage TAG supporters to send a message to Congress members urging them to press HHS to release the NOFOs without further delay. Please share this alert with your colleagues, networks, and community.

Thank you for your advocacy. HIV research has always moved forward because communities, scientists, and advocates insisted on it.
