About Robert

Robert Monteleone is a committed advocate for public health, HIV/AIDS, and other social justice causes. He got his start in this work at ACT UP NY where he was a member of “The Marys”, an affinity group that led the political funerals of those that died of AIDS during the height of the epidemic due to pharmaceutical greed, societal stigma and government neglect.

Robert has served on the Treatment Action Group (TAG) Board of Directors for close to 20 years and currently serves as the organization’s Vice President. He has played an instrumental role in the planning and production of TAG’s annual Research in Action Awards (RIAA), helping to grow the event into the organization’s premier fundraising celebration and a cornerstone of support for TAG’s mission.

In addition to his board leadership, Robert is an active member of UNITED, a group of longtime TAG donors who leverage their collective philanthropy to advance TAG’s HIV research and advocacy work. His generosity, strategic guidance, and unwavering commitment to public health have helped strengthen TAG’s ability to fight for scientific progress, equitable access to treatment, and better health outcomes for HIV, TB, and HCV impacted communities.
