Implementing the 4-month HPMZ Regimen
A webinar co-moderated by TAG and the WHO Accelerator Platform for Novel TB Regimens, a platform focused on streamlining the implementation of shorter, safer, and more effective tuberculosis treatments globally.
On July 9th, the WHO Accelerator Platform for Novel TB Regimens hosted a webinar focused on the four-month HPMZ (isoniazid, rifapentine, moxifloxacin, pyrazinamide) treatment regimen, covering country experiences, implementation tools, and the availability of new fixed-dose combinations. The session featured four presentations:
- Indonesia’s Experience Implementing the 4-month HPMZ Regimen, presented by Prof. Erlina Burhan (Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Universitas Indonesia and Persahabatan Hospital and Director of the Respiratory Programmatic Implementation and Research Institute in Indonesia)
- Implementation and Outcomes of the 4HPMZ Therapy in Georgia, presented by Dr. Nana Kiria (Deputy Medical Director of the National Center for Lung Health in Tbilisi, Georgia) and Dr. Naomi Solomonia (Guideline Development Group Coordinator for the National Center for Lung Health and Professor at Tbilisi State Medical University)
- Expected Availability of new FDCs for the HPMZ Regimen, presented by Brian Kaiser (Technical Officer, Stop TB Partnership Global Drug Facility)
- Overcoming barriers to adoption, presented by Lindsay McKenna (TB Project, Co-Director, Treatment Action Group)
The webinar closed with an open discussion on accelerating adoption of the regimen worldwide.
